Description Aim of this project is to design and realize a knowledge management platform for car infomobility applications. The project tries to take the opportunity that the new scenarios make available: 1. there are more than 400 million vehicles in Europe 2. the average time a person spends in a car is rising day by day In order to make the realization of the expected activity plan possible, the aim of the project is to take the opportunity provided by the last PON, that is to create a team blending together the university and industrial reality in order to achieve the expected goals. Aim of this project is to realize a global delivery platform of information bound to the infomobility and the infotainment context. The platform’s back office will be a knowledge management system where the discovery and the classification modules are semiautomatic and supervised. The system should be applied to different knowledge domains; one of these domains is the traffic information domain. The platform will support the information delivery on many different transmission channels and to many different on-board devices (with different performances). Thus the information will be classified in order to permit its downgrade to support slower transmission channels and slower devices. The result of this project will be the creation of the technologies that will allow, in a future development stage, to implement a support system suitable for finding, classifying and delivering the significant information for the infomobility and the multilanguage infotainment systems. The urban and out-of-town road condition domain information will be taken as example: for this domain a traffic event validation system will be developed; this system will permit to integrate the information taken with traffic events collected by FCD and generated both from GPS and from GSM terminals. After that will be developed a system demonstrator able to provide to the user some of the domain among those the knowledge management system can manage. Some of these domains are, for instance, traffic, infotainment, weather condition etc. Moreover, a prototype able to value the congestion of some arch of the graph will be developed. Much attention will be paid to the integration of innovative localization methods: the University of Calabria will do a research aimed at creating a GSM based localization system; this system will be integrated in the final platform and will send data to the system meant to produce traffic information
