• The research project " New Technologies and Materials for Land and Environmental Protection" aims to create an advanced training course addressed to young graduates in the scientific field. The Master’s Degree will certainly represent an important point of reference for the local reality, since it will create new professional figures and it will be applicable within the wider context of the South of Italy . Moreover, the above mentioned project will provide the involvement of important academics and professionals working in the field of research and services to the territory.
• The main objective of the course is to train professionals with highly specialized skills in the environmental protection and defence, with a particular reference to the main sources of risk affecting the soil, surface water and groundwater, and all the interlinked structures..
• Therefore, as regards the field of engineering, the trained professionals will be able to identify the best available techniques useful to preserve and enhance the quality of the environmental systems and to avoid, mitigate or compensate the environmental impacts of the engineering works, with particular attention to the management of contaminated sites and landfills.
• The main training themes, in fact, will focus on the slope stability and the consolidation of land, the protection of river basins, the management of waste, landfills, the reclamation of contaminated sites, the automatic and thematic representation of the territory.
• Therefore, a new figure of professional specialist with interdisciplinary skills will be created. The new professionalism, dealing with the universe of the territorial operational needs, will be able to evolve towards more skilled roles and profiles useful for the local and national economic production.
• The Master II level Technical Research specializing in technologies for land and environmental protection will be addressed to 20 participants and it will have a duration of 960 hours, divided into two years. During each year, the Master will use a training approach that will provide classroom training (modules A and C) operational experience (module B), learning assessment and stage.
• The used methods will be especially active and, thanks to the help of the modern technology, the analysis will combine classroom activities and group discussion of case studies, business simulations, project works, role playing and a direct exchange of experiences with researchers, managers and consultants working in the country.
• All the participants will benefit from the free course and a monthly scholarship; a refund for travel, meals and accommodation expenses will also be provided for all the students not residing in the city of Reggio Calabria.
• The trainees who will have completed their training having passed each module final test, project work and the discussion of the thesis, will obtained a certificate of Master of II level for Technical Research specializing in new technologies for land and environmental protection . Moreover, thanks to the high level of professionalism of the teachers and the characteristics of the training course itself, all the students will be able to certify some possible credits.
• For the activities of project management and mentoring activities, we will also get advice InnovaReggio Consortium for Innovation and local development, acting as third party. This is not mandatory external structure active in training.
