Description The project provides for the activation of eleven scholarships and research benefits of triennial term (2 for SSICA, 5 for University of Salerno and 4 for University of Calabria) by a public announcement of competition with the aim of research and study in the reference fields. The professional training path will be held in each Partners’ seats and will consist of theoretical and practical laboratory practices as well. At the end of the training period these professional figures will acquire a deep acknowledgement on tomato products especially those mainly close to tradition that represent the aim of the study. The competencies achieved at the end of the whole training period will deal with different sectors: agronomy, quality (chemical, physical, microbiological analytical techniques, data mining) shelf life, processing and packaging technologies, valorisation of tomato wastes, sensory analysis and consumer sciences, biochemistry of functional molecules, cosmetic applications, bio-energy. It will also be provided courses held in accredited training centres (particularly focused on strategic planning and management and marketing). Finally, during the training period, stages in Partner Companies will be organised in which the young researchers will be supported by the SSICA and the University technicians in training on technological processes of different production lines (traditional products & packaging versus innovative ones).
